Our Story
Originally from South Africa, John and Tracey Drummond have been in the pet industry for many years.
John grew up and helped out in his parent’s pet shop assisting his father in breeding a variety of aquatic fish, birds and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. At home is where you would have found Tracey in the breeding facilities separating the baby fry to their individual grow out tanks.
John then moved on to managing an Ornamental Aquatic fish farm breeding and exporting exotic fish to the world. It was here that he excelled in breeding and gaining further knowledge in the Aquatic world.
In 2005 John and Tracey decided to immigrate over to New Zealand with their oldest daughter and have since added to their family a younger daughter and son who all absolutely share the same passion for animals.
It wasn’t until 2014 that Kamo Pet and Aquatic Centre was on the market for sale that they knew it was a no brainer to purchase what they love most, and that was their very own pet store.
“We have a huge passion and love for animals big and small. The satisfaction of been able to help our customers in finding exactly what they are looking for and seeing that smile on their face is what it’s all about. Pets are not just a companion or something to look at, but they are a family member so they need to be treated with just as much love and care”
